SistaChapters
Our Vision
SistaKeeper UMSL Chapter will develop a multicultural sisterhood; that is
diverse, building self-esteem, character, leadership, college and community
awareness
SistaKeeper Empowerment Centers vision is to promote diversity, build
self-awareness and self-esteem, decrease teen pregnancy, increase HIV/AIDS
awareness, stop violence in our communities, increase literacy and mold the
future leaders of our local, national and global communities. As a
SistaPartner, SistaKeeper UMSL Chapters goal is to partner
with SKEC to continue to build positive partnerships throughout our local
communities.
Purpose
SistaKeeper Chapter will serve as welcoming
committee for incoming young women to assist them in becoming acclimated to the
UMSL culture, giving them a feeling of belonging to a positive nonprofit
organization that is connected to college life and
community as well.
Goal
Young women that come to UMSL immediately feel
connected, apart of the UMSL environment, as well as developing their inner
purpose, enriching each other through developing common goals that affect the
communities they come from therefore establishing an immediate sense of
connection and purpose on and off campus.
Outcome
Increased multicultural presence of young women on
the UMSL campus and in the community coming together for a unified purpose by
being a SistaKeeper to new students on campus whom might otherwise feel they
don't fit in, as well as promoting the UMSL culture in the communities that
they come from by being Big SistaKeepers to girls in
the St. Louis area middle schools/high schools that are actively participating
in SistaKeeper Circles.
